My work springs from a place somewhere between
my personal dream world and my conscious life, often reflecting
the moment between sleep and wakefulness. Some drawings are
an expression of my dreamscapes and others are simply symbolic
of the physical world. Line becomes an organic device to create
creatures that inhabit these environments. My watercolours
are meditations on nature and my place in it. The landscapes
are familiar to me in that I visit them and have for most
of my life, camping, painting, drawing and taking photographs,
roaming around our continent. Watching and trying to capture
the colours and movement of the sky, a lake, shadows, that
turn ever so subtly as the moments go by. This is the ultimate
relaxation for me, those quiet times in a field or on a dock,
in the woods, on a cliff or dune.
